Jane and Andrew’s family have farmed here for nearly 100 years, bring a very personal touch to any visit. This working farm is centrally located between Exmoor and Dartmoor national parks. Pickwell Barton lies in the heart of one of the World’s oldest U.N.E.S.C.O Biosphere and is also designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. With every outdoor activity at your fingertips it is the perfect location to explore, relax and simply enjoy life as it should be lived.
This 14th century fishing village set of a 400 foot steep cliff is steeped in History. It remains a fully working village with over 200 families living and working on site. Many parts have also been used as locations for films and tv documentaries. There are museums, shopping and even escorted tours. The village is open to the public all year and whilst some of the shops close during the winter months there is plenty to see and do.
There are so many wonderful gardens to visit under 30 minutes from us. Most of these have not only the most amazing floral displays but also grow volumes of fresh foods for local shops and restaurants. This helps promote one of this region’s hidden gems, namely our diverse food and drink industry. From fresh asparagus straight from the farm, sustainably caught lobster and crab sold from the quay to weekly Farmers markets. Award winning café’s to cosy pubs and then a huge array of 2 and 3 rosettes, Michelin restaurants. We even boast the “World’s Best Marmalade” maker! there is plenty to choose from for all palettes.
